MADELEINE STAPLES

2022

290 x 510 x 490 mm (hxlxd)

Taxidermy bird & plaster on plasterboard

The Waste Land comes from a series of sculptures by Madeleine, juxtaposing taxidermy birds with remnants of plaster left over from construction sites.

Madeleine Staples (b.1983) is an artist from Grimsby currently working in Stroud, Gloucestershire. Her art represents comedy & science through a restrained theatrical lens. Themes toy with notions of scale, consumption, transience and hierarchy. Strongly informed by the uncanny her works are rich in symbolism.
