THE GREAT IMAGINING CANNOCK CHASE

CHASE LEISURE CENTRE, CANNOCK

8TH AND 9TH MARCH 24 - 9AM-4PM

The Great Imagining Cannock Chase was the launch event for a pioneering community lead programme to transform Cannock Chase District towards a greener, fairer, wiser future.

On March 8th and 9th 2024,  more than 18 schools, 3 colleges, 6 universities, 15 community groups, 6 businesses, including partnership organisations from 3 continents, created hundreds of artworks, sculptures and costumes, shared ideas and participated in conversations in Chase Leisure Centre, Cannock.

Over 2 months in January and February, over 5,000 people from 8 to 80 took part in dozens of workshops and inter-actives, from carbon literacy and solar energy to spinning wool and making friends with invertibrates.

We are now following up with a years programme of workshops and resources for the Cannock Chase schools and their wider community:  creating a scaleable model in partnership with district councils and local authorities to engage the community in imagining a greener, fairer, wiser future for everyone.

This whole programme is putting schools at its centre. In January and February 2024 The Great Imagining team went to 16 schools across the district and lead whole school assemblies, ran class workshops and spoke to dozens of teachers in the first stage of a five year plan to reduce the carbon footprint of the district and increase empathy with nature and the biodiversity of the whole region.

THE GREAT IMAGINING CANNOCK CHASE is in partnership with Cannock Chase Council, Inspiring Healthy Lifestyles, schools, universities, colleges, community groups, networks and businesses.  As well Staffordshire-wide initiatives such as the Staffordshire COP.
